AESTHETIC PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY
What is Photodynamic Therapy for aesthetic use?
This method pursues both medical and aesthetic purposes. It is the combination of two factors. First, 5-aminolevulinic acid or ALA, a photosensitizing substance. And, secondly, irradiation of light with an Intense Pulsed Light laser or IPL which causes the selective destruction of damaged or aged tissues, which is beneficial to surrounding cells.
Among the medical purposes pursued we find such serious conditions as, on the one hand, actinic keratosis, which as already described in the specific section for this condition, is a lesion of the skin produced by overexposure to the sun which can lead to cancer and, on the other hand, the local treatment of skin cancer. However, you can see our dermatologists to discover what other pathological uses it possesses.
The laser acts causing the destruction of old, diseased, or damaged skin cells and stimulates the creation of new ones. In this way, skin regenerates and heals by itself without having to perform any surgery or inject any foreign substance into our own body.
Yet, as with any laser treatment, phototherapy involves certain risks, so put yourself in good hands and having prior, quality information is vital for a good result. Our dermatologists are committed to recommend the treatment that best suits your needs and answer any questions that may arise before, during or after the treatment.
