Is it possible to remove tattoos?
Currently it is possible to remove the tattoos thanks to dermatological treatments. Laser treatments manage to eliminate this type of permanent pigmentation in a practical manner, without leaving any marks.
Tattoos are big bags of ink in the dermis. Their large size gives them stability and permanence in the skin, so they cannot be eliminated by the natural systems of the body. The process consists of applying a laser device which fragments ink particles, turning them into much smaller ones that may be eliminated by the body.
The results obtained in the total elimination of the tattoo depends on the particular case of each patient. The color of the tattoo is an important factor in the treatment since there are colors easier to delete such as black, blue and red, purple and orange. However, colors like green or yellow are more difficult to eliminate, needing further treatment to get good results.
It is recommended to not sunbathe or tan before starting the treatment, since it hinders the penetration of the laser light. The treatment is hardly painful, and it can be thus performed without anesthesia, with topical anesthesia or local anesthesia, depending on the sensitivity of the patient. After the laser treatment, it is advisable to apply an antibiotic ointment and cover the entire area with a dressing, which must be renewed as directed by the dermatologist to achieve complete healing.
After a month and a half, the treatment will be repeated, needing a total of 4 to 8 sessions to get the final result.
