Lifting.

In recent years, minimal incisions are used to reduce residual scars, which makes them, generally, hardly noticeable. After having made the incisions, the surgeon separates the skin from the underlying tissue. Then the surgeon repositions skin in its place, stretching it. In this part of the process, the surgeon must be very precise and know how much he/she can stretch the skin so that the facelift is not noticeable. Once the stretch has concluded, surplus skin is cut off and incisions are stitched. Finally, elastic compression bandages are applied to immobilize the area. Although most people tend to think of this surgery as disabling, recovery is quick and results are natural.

FACE AND NECK LIFT

What is a face and neck lift?

The face and neck, technically known as Rhytidectomy or facelift is a surgical procedure intended to reduce the visible signs of facial and cervical aging.

Among these signs are:

  • Decreased tone of the muscles of facial mimicry
  • Moderate to severe cutaneous flaccidity
  • Loss of volume in facial fat deposits
  • Labiomentonian and nasogenian grooves increase
  • Loss of definition in face and neck angle

The classic facelift usually includes lower facelift and necklift. However, this procedure can be complemented with periorbital rejuvenation surgery, lifting of eyebrow tail (browlift) and autologous fat fillers.

Who is a candidate for face and neck lift?

It is estimated that anyone over 40 years can be a candidate for a facelift, however, this will depend on the signs of facial aging present in that individual. Indications for the procedure will be discussed in consultation with your surgeon, establishing the treatment plan that better suits your needs.

It is important to remember that the face lift is a procedure whose intention is to restore anatomic structures to their original position and, therefore, results are natural and there are no attempts to change the original appearance of the patient, under any circumstances.

How is the procedure performed?

Face and neck lifting or rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure that can be performed under general anesthesia (preferably) or using infiltrations of local anesthesia and sedation.

Incisions are made inside the hair, in the temporal region, they move down the back of the ear, bordering its lower part, and head back along the lines of the hairline. They are short incisions, designed precisely to be practically imperceptible.

The cervical region is approached with a minimal incision through the chin, which does not leave any cosmetic sequelae.

Once the conservative detachment is carried out, the facial musculature is restored to its anatomical position and excess skin is trimmed, giving back to face and neck a smooth and healthy look.

What happens in the postoperative period?

The postoperative period is usually very well tolerated. It is not painful. Of course a minimum of precautions should be taken to avoid complications. Edema, or swelling of the face and neck, tends to disappear within a week, however, the stable result will become evident three weeks after the procedure.
It is recommended to have a week to rest after surgery.

BROWLIFT

What is a frontal lifting?

Frontal lifting or brow lift is a surgical procedure intended to reduce forehead wrinkles, relax the muscles between the eyebrows and raise eyebrows to place them in a proper anatomical position.

Who is a candidate for a browlift?

People whose front rhytidosis is not susceptible to medical treatment. Those who present asymmetries in eyebrow position. People who have excessive expression of muscles between the eyebrows. But above all, those with drooping (ptosis) eyebrows which result, consequently, in a sad eye expression.

How is the procedure performed?

Frontal lifting or brow lift is a procedure that can be performed with infiltrations of local or general anesthesia and sedation. Using minimal incisions in the scalp, a detachment of the frontal region is performed and muscles between the eyebrows are weakened. Subsequently, eyebrows are raised and excess skin at the level of the scalp is dried out.

What happens in the postoperative period?

The postoperative period is very favorable. Discomfort is minimal and the patient can virtually return to normal life in 1 or 2 days. Signs of ecchymosis or bruises do not generally appear. The end result will be evident starting on the sixth week after the surgery.
