What are ruby spots?
Ruby spots, also known as senile angiomas, are alterations of tumoral proliferation of the capillary vessels which nourish the deepest layer of the skin. These small red or deep-red dots form the most common vascular injury in adults. They usually appear on the trunk and are less frequent on the arms or legs.
Usually, these small injuries are multiple and asymptomatic, and some might be big, reaching a three or five millimetre diameter.
Treatment for ruby spots
These injuries do not require treatment as they never turn malignant, they are only caused by skin ageing and its removal treatment is merely cosmetic. If the patient wishes to remove them, there are several efficient and painless treatments such as the Diolite 532 device or the N-Yang 532 vascular laser and 1064 light C.
